Fire extinguishers need to be serviced annually according to the California State Fire Marshal. You have until the last day of the month it was last serviced to be in compliance.
No. Every 12 years, a fire extinguisher needs to have a hydrostatic test, which is a pressure test to check to make sure there are no leaks. CO2 and K Class extinguishers will need to have a hydrostatic test every five years.
Most of the time, a standard powder extinguisher is what you need. However, there are some businesses that should have different types, such as restaurants, laboratories, and businesses with a lot of electronics, to name a few.
No, we will gladly service fire extinguisher for personal use in your home. Please contact us for more information.
If you have to use an extinguisher, please call us and let us know, and we will come out and assess and service your extinguisher. You cannot use the extinguisher again after you have used it, even if you did not empty it. It is very important you have it refilled and serviced as soon as possible after you use it, as the powder will harden if it sits after use for too long. Please note: if you have more than one extinguisher and they were NOT all used, we are unable to service the rest of them unless we have a written request.
It is against the law for us to service fire extinguishers earlier than they are due, unless we have a written request by an authorized person asking for an early service. If you would like your extinguishers serviced early, please contact us here.
